Thanks to all of you who attended the John McCaskey supper and talk on April 6 titled “The New Libertarianism.” In short, Dr. McCaskey conveyed some disturbing news from the land of academic Libertarians. Apparently these academics are abandoning individual rights in favor of social justice. Obviously, this bodes unfavorably for the future of liberty.
Our attendance was slightly lower for this talk. Unfortunately for those who could not attend, Dr. McCaskey’s presentation was simply fabulous and indicated by feedback from attendees:"Thanks again for the fantastic talk last night ... it is our favorite talk so far. I'm going to let people who did not attend [know] that they really missed out."
"Thanks for making last night's event happen. The speaker exceeded expectations for many in the room and was a great introduction to important ideas for new attendees."
"I had such a lovely time last night - you were a gracious hostess and all details were orchestrated so well. Most impressive! And, the speaker, what can one say? Just WOW! What a privilege!"
Fortunately, some of Dr. McCaskey’s thoughts on this matter were captured in a subsequent interview by Dr. Diana Hsieh on Philosophy in Action
. We also are working towards recording the Hungry Minds talks and providing them for sale to those who are unable to attend in person.
Next up is our season closer in June when Dr. C. Bradley Thompson will speak on education. This is sure to be a rousing end to a very successful season. Please check our website for information and updates. We hope to see you at these events!
